Well after 30 years I finally did it. I hugged a chicken. Her name is Penny. I believe she's a silver-laced Wyandotte. It was nice but I didn't know that chickens were so skittish. It makes sense but it's not something I've ever thought of before. They also sound like they're vaguely angry all the time.

I don't know why it took so long to hug a chicken. But I've done it now. I can't say I can cross it off my list yet. I feel like I can get a better hug off a chicken than the one that just happened. Once I'm sure I've given a chicken the best possible hug then I can say that I'm done.

Something else I didn't know about chickens is that they really love watermelon and pomegranate. That's good to know for when I eventually get chickens. Can't get them any time soon though. But maybe someday.
