Izzy first started journaling when she was still in the hospital after the incident. She had just gotten her arm but still couldn't leave bed. She had a lot of time and a lot of thoughts. Alicia thought such things could be alleviated by writing things down. Alicia had been keeping a journal for a couple of years at that point and had received a number of benefits in doing so. It made sense for her to pass the idea along.
Izzy made the most of it. It helped her get better control of her arm for one thing. But it was also nice to get her thoughts out. She had so many of them. Not all of them would be better off spoken aloud. Despite being so young, she had an idea of when to keep things to herself. She usually noticed it when it seemed like nothing could be done to change a thing. So she felt that there was no use talking about it. Years of asking for things she couldn't had had led to that.
She'd do multiple entries in a day and kept up the habit of writing them even after she left the hospital. She never missed a day. She even trained herself to write with her left hand just in case something would happen with her right arm such as times when she had to take it in for repairs and/or adjustments. She eventually amassed a sizable collection of past journals. All of which she kept under her bed.
Today she's back to writing again after what feels like a very long absence. She doesn't know how she'll keep these but that's something for another day. For now she has a lot to catch up on.
